This is our oldest of four dogs, Frisky. That was the name given to him from the adoption agency
Due to a lack of imagination at the time we kept the name. And it fit him to a T! He's now 12, and Thursday having surgery to remove his spleen and a large tumor. Keeping our fingers crossed.

Thank you! I know he's older but have to try for him.

All our critters have been from shelters or rescues - we get the cats as kittens, because we have multiples, but adopt adult dogs. We've gone to the mat for a couple of dogs, not really knowing for sure how old they are - it's worth it, if you can.

It's a crap shoot, but to do nothing is unacceptable. I wish others felt the same, there are so many animals in need. In addition to the 4 dogs, we also have 3 cats. It's a menagerie.

Crapshoot is having pets at all, really! We've had a few cats make it to 13+, a few go younger. All the dogs were probably at least 9 - not sure how old they were when we got them. We do the best we can until we sense they're done. It's a learning process, as you probably know.

It's a huge learning process. One reason we're going ahead with the surgery is we truly feel he has some more good years left in him. And we just can't in good conscience let him slip away. Which is what would happen if we did nothing. The vet said he has 4 to 6 weeks left without the surgery.
