I won't stop saying it. Natural. Hair. Is. Beautiful. My dreads means everything to me. I started them in 1995 & they reach my knees now in full-on salt & pepper gray. They're full of memories & power. It's beyond criminal to still be fighting this racist battle over hairstyles. When does it end?

The CROWN ACT is supposed to protect African Americans from hair discrimination. So why is a highschool senior in Texas being expelled over his locs? My latest from Slate

🖐🏾💋♥️Thanks, Bev. It's insane that Black and Indigenous people need legislation in order for our hairstyles to be protected. It's pure racism. This Texas high schooler has done nothing wrong. He's lost so much time in school from being suspended. It enrages me to no end.

Bet if it were a white child nothing would be said...there is no doubt in my mind. We got some ugly hair. One of my best friends, in HS, grew the best afro you ever did see that almost rivaled Ms. Davis'!
