I am seething with anger right now [sorry]. I knew Medicare Part D was terrible legislation when it was first passed. Insurance companies are NOT doctors. They're money grubbing parasites. [I'll stop for now]

I have asthma. It hasn't been too bad, but it has gotten progressively worse over the past 30-something years. Asthma meds are expensive, even the stuff that I used in the 1980s. My doctor and I have been trying different meds to find something that helps and that I can tolerate.

My doctor prescribed a new med in December. It seems that it works and I can tolerate it. Yesterday I got a letter from the insurance company saying it's not in our formulary you have to use something else. Fuck you! It works! FUCK YOU!

I'm not using this shit because I want to. If I could live without the meds I take, I would happily do so. Being able to breathe is IMPORTANT!

You may be able to get a formulary exception, allowing you to get the medication but $$$. For a med on the formulary but high-priced, you may be able to get a tier exception to move it to a lower-priced tier. (I got this for an allergy med once.) Can’t get both—may depend on ins company.

Yes, that's true. Their letter actually explains the steps I can take to BEG for coverage. If I plead just right they MIGHT reconsider.

Side note: Healthcare should not be for profit. Medical insurance companies should be outlawed.
