I'm doing research on the history of smoking in Canada and came across this ad (one of a series) in 1907 for "Sweet Violet" cigarettes. It strikes me as an odd image intending to sell cigarettes.

You might be interested in this uncovered 'ghost sign' in Montreal.
This is a Google Maps image but I'm sure I have a better one somewhere.
I'd never heard of Turret cigarettes before.

It is amazing how many brands exist in pre WW I Canada, and yes I’m familiar with Turret. I suspect Sweet Violet cigarettes were trying to capture some of the Sweet Caporal market - the most popular cigarette in Canada for many years. I’ll post some of the Sweet Cap promotions … cutting edge stuff.
