If somebody told you that they didn't see color when they looked at the sky or a box of crayons, you would probably think they are literally colorblind in some way. Because you know for a fact that there is color there when you and many others look at those things.

Which is why it should sound ridiculous whenever anybody says "I don't see color" as pertaining to race. In no other contexts is being "colorblind" generally viewed as a positive thing. Yet people espouse this view as if it would be something beneficial, or a plus to them.

People who say they don't see color are simply upholding whiteness as the default, dominant perspective on everything. Because we all know for damn sure that our society sees color.
