Ok, so maybe taking that 4.5 mile walk today with 30# of dumbell plates in my pack was a bad idea.
But, I wouldn't know it if I didn't do it, would I?

Having a properly fitted backpack makes all the difference between in the world. The majority of the weight has to be carried by your waist belt.
I plan on walking the AT in 2026 when I'm well over 50. Wish me luck

I'll definitely wish you luck.
My pack is actuallya 3L Camelbak hydrating pack with the bottle removed, so it's not as if it's framed, and obviously far from ideal. I'm 55, FTR. The only things that hurts, actually, are my lower obliques and high on my hips; just muscle pain soon to be fatigue.
