Today, The New York Times offer this Storyline; “Boeing faces tricky balance between safety and performance”. Should that even BE a balance? Perhaps our willingness to consider that “balance” is a symptom of a larger, systemic, imbalance?

Is that like the 'balance' Ford tried to attain with the pinto? Keeping alive but maintain obscene profits? We know what happens when those goals do not align. And planes are bigger than Pintos.

And Toyota recently issued a recall on its cars from the years 2003 & 2004 which can kill a passenger with small metal projectiles if the airbag deploys. Do we actually think thy didn’t know about this “feature” until the cars were 20 years old and no longer an issue for image & profitability?
