It’s a transformation that I, even as someone who grew up in a state that had gone through Reconstruction, knew very little about until I was well into adulthood and made an effort to get myself better informed.

So, it meant a lot to me when librarians in my home state named The Amazing Age of John Roy Lynch to the Texas Bluebonnet Award Master List several years ago.
