It's International Women's Day. I'd like to highlight the bathroom debate as exhibit 1, in the gatekeeping of womanhood and who 'gender critical' feminists really are and why their views are transmisogynistic and harmful to all women. https://journals.sagepub.com/doi/full/10.1177/0038026120934697

The article you posted gives a biased and wrong definition of gender critical women and is completely dismissive of the needs of women for privacy. Sharing a toilet is not the issue. Respecting women's rights to privacy is the issue. Redefining our spaces without consulting us is the issue.

How are the needs of transwomen's privacy any different? I don't get the point you are trying to make. Acting like the rights of one undermines the other is a false narrative. It doesn't work like that. Most trans folks were already using those bathrooms before it became an issue.

Also, respecting that public bathrooms are for going to the bathroom and not for determining what makes a woman 'worthy' of that privacy and safety is key. No trans woman is going to the bathroom to violate your privacy.

Forcing women to use bathrooms where men will disrespect or accost them due to transmisogyny so you don't feel violated because someone did the one thing you're supposed to do in the bathroom (use it), is a ridiculous and misogynistic argument. All of us, or none of us. Leave no one behind.
