I’ve assessed many for dementia. President Biden doesn’t have it. What he does have: tracking capacity, sense of humor, fast comebacks, quick speaking speed, empathy, remarkable short-term memory (the first to go in actual dementia…), fitness, expressiveness… Ageism is rampant in this country. 🙄

So much so that we keep 55+ on their own compounds. My octogenarian mother said, "Oh that poor man". When I asked why, she said bc he can't remember anything. I asked her if based on age should take her keys? Conversation ended abruptly.

Jack Smith today filing for Cannon to reverse recent unsealing decisions they say would identify two dozen witnesses an expose them to threats
-Cannon’s rulings were “clear error”
-defying 11th circuit precedent
-would cause ‘manifest injustice'

Right?! He would need to be a neurologist or psychologist. Psychologists are the only mental health license who are trained in actual psychological assessment.

He also has a speech impediment which he's talked about a lot and mostly overcome.

Plus, Biden has always been prone to the occasional gaffe and/or being demanding of his staff. Now those traits are presented by the (corporate) media as being aging issues. 🧐

Yes! He’s made the same gaffes going back 30, 40 years.

Yep. I think blaming things on age because the person doing them is aged is common. I've heard a couple of people close to me do it to themselves. Sometimes you say the wrong word or misplace your keys. We all do.

It bothers me mostly because people who are truly suffering with it, and their caregivers, don’t need this constantly thrown in their faces

My mom had dementia before she passed, and I was her caregiver. A lot of people don’t understand, nor do they care to understand what it actually is.

Yeah, my mom suffers from short term memory loss. My dad passed away last November and mom forgets it. Luckily, when we tell her she says "Oh yes, I remember now." and I think she does. If mom's memory was half as good as Joe's, I'd be dancing in the streets.

The fictions they want to tell that they want to believe ... it would be silly if it weren't so effective.
