Can we stop hurling the word dementia around as an insult? Dementia is a specific (often devastating) disease process.

Normal patterns of aging include increased cognitive processing time and inarticulate speech due to weakening lingual muscles. These things are normal and do not = dementia.

Also, an older person who has a stutter issue will often have to stop and think just a bit longer...to correctly speak and avoid the stutter.
