Some Black (domestic, hair) History: This is a hot comb. Many generations of Black women in the U.S. pressed their hair with it after heating up on a stove, to straighten their hair if they didn’t have “good hair.” This is the one my mother used on my hair when I was growing up.

I remember that... Yikes. Burning on my ears. Especially around Easter time. Brings back such painful but joyful memories... 🌑⚫🖤🤎💛👑🥰🌹📿🥀🙏

Ooooh yes! The tops of my ears would sometimes get singed. Still, it was mostly a pleasant time spent with my mother. While pressing my hair, she would sometimes tell me stories of her family, stories that had been told for generations.
