Finally getting around to watching #Andor , the first #StarWars series from #Disney I don't find kind of trivial.

Rogue One was tremendous, and getting to flesh out the more interesting characters is satisfying, but there's more than that.

It has the tension and intrigue of high-caliber spy thrillers, the cautionary flavor of dystopian literature like Orwell. The characters are complex, morally strained, archetypal without being shallow.

I'm shocked to say this is high-level storytelling.

The story isn't so much *about* Cassian Andor, but telling a bigger story *thru* him. Ironically, when the villainous yet irresistible Dedra Meero labels Luthen "Axis", but it is actually Cassian's character who is the axis, or a fulcrum, of so much: Maarva's sacrifice...

B-2's yearning, Bix's suffering, Luthen's wry anger, Dedra's ambition & focus, Syril's unhinging, Nemik's hope, Kino's awakening, & more.

Cassian is the catalyst, in some way, for each of these other characters to develop, to grow, to shift into what they will be. He's no leader, he pushes leaders.

#Andor is a new bar for #StarWars storytelling, and of unexpected quality from #Disney . It works on all levels: the cinematography, the casting, the acting, the writing, the wardrobe and sets, in every aspect of cinematic-style storytelling, Andor evolves the best of the films (Rogue One) into art.
