I found parts of the book to be painful but I did not find it difficult to read. It was refreshing to read such honesty.

That so little has changed in 60 years is devastating.

I found it difficult to read at points as Baldwin's train of thought would meander to different subjects and then come back to a main point.
It was also difficult emotionally as any of these meanderings would require me to set the book down to absorb what was just read and process it.#FireNextTime

#SBBC #FireNextTime No, not difficult, but sad. This could have been written last week. Especially in FL. I teach nursing students; diversity is mandatory. I’ve been working to decolonize my mind, but many are still clinging to a toxic past.

It wasn't difficult, but it was surprising. Mr. Baldwin did not mince words when speaking of white liberal reluctance or about the soullessness of white racists.

Such a small book and yet so powerful.
