Mr. Baldwin makes a most excellent point. Our society is woefully comfortable with telling Black folks and members of other marginalized communities to “wait”. Wait for the laws to change. Wait for viewpoints to change.

We as the marginalized, are essentially waiting for our humanity to take root in the hearts of people who have depraved indifference (at best) or intentional hatred (at worst) toward us. That’s not happening.

So we end up having to depend on ‘well meaning’ folks who, though they have the right intentions, lack the courage of conviction. I think about the Brown v. Board of Education and the SC phrase of “all deliberate speed”... #SBBC #FireNextTime

That’s a contradiction. It’s saying ‘Yeah segregation in schools is wrong & it should change, but we don’t want it to happen too soon because white people are going to be upset.” Not cool. Civilization won't survive if its most vulnerable are ignored & placed in the corner. #SBBC #FireNextTime
