The title doesn't do the video justice. Have you consented to having every activity on your phone stored, tracked, & sold? Even when you think you have everything secured/off? You're not as private as you think.

No SIM? No Problem! - YouTube

Your phone is more than just a communication tool; it’s a powerful tracking device, and the SIM card inside is a key reason why. I don’t actually have a SIM ...

Some of the information from the video:

Your phone is 3 computers in 1:
1) The application processor, runs OS (iOS, Android)
2) Baseband processor, a network interface controller that manages all the radio functions (all functions requiring an antenna)
3) The SIM card (has its own OS & file system)

Each of those is its own system, and they all talk to each other. The Baseband processor lets you send data, make calls, all that. Your app processor is mostly the interface, lets you run all the non-telco stuff.

But the SIM card's independent of the other 2, even tho it interacts; it never sleeps.

Proactive SIMs can tell the other systems to perform certain tasks, and it can gather and transmit data, regardless of your WiFi being off, your Airplane Mode settings, even ignoring firewalls or VPN. It can do all this without you knowing or consenting, bc it bypasses the systems where they run.

So the SIM card can send instructions to the baseband processor, which then connects to an available network and enacts the SIM card instructions, even when you aren't aware of it. This isn't entirely bad, & enables you to send/receive SMS, data, calls, etc.

But it's encrypted from us, too.

There are perfectly legitimate reasons for such messages to occur, but it's concerning that the providers are silent and resistant to inquiry about what's in these encrypted instructions. It's not documented by any providers, and they have resisted even legal investigation about it.

You trust them?
