For anyone panicking over news that Russia is developing nuclear weapons that could destroy satellites, I hate to break it to you, but they already exist, and have since the 1960s. Any ICBM detonated in space instead of on the planet can damage or destroy many satellites. Indiscriminately.

Of course, because this is Russia, perhaps they haven't considered the fact that they have a good chance of destroying THEIR satellites as well, as debris tends to be indiscriminate and orbital mechanics a bit of a crap shoot with random vectors.

Cool our next post apocalyptic movie for real life. Think post the movie Gravity. Satellites destroying each other and falling to earth. So much debris we can never leave the earth again. Maybe the EMP pulse will take out the electric grid. No GPS no internet no international business. Fun times
