Would you rather talk about books or food or even both at the same time?

What was the first cookbook you ever bought or was gifted to you? Do you still use it? Or have you switched to online recipes?

I don't use cookbooks ... and rarely use online recipes. I'm a simple cook.

My first cookbook was a Betty Crocker cookbook for kids from the early 70s (a gift from a babysitter). Still have it, haven’t used it in decades. I mostly experiment or use the NYT Cooking app now but I love reading cookbooks. Best one? Salt, Fat, Acid, Heat.

That’s a fabulous book! Have you tried The Food Lab by J. Kenji Lopez Alt?

I love The Food Lab. Lots of great information on why recipes work or don’t.

Cookbooks are lovely to have around even if you don't use them.

And you learn so much from the header info about the writer.
