So you’re a champion marathoner, competitive swimmer, or have scaled K2? Proud of your stamina? Good for you.

But have you wrangled three generations of your very large extended family while attending a week long Indian wedding? No? Then sit down.

Have your ear drums burst while watching the very elaborate and very loud dance performances during the sangeet while still trying to listen to the long and involved stories your hard of hearing elderly relative is shouting in your year?

Congratulations, you survived day two.

Question: what do Indian aunty-jis carry in those big handbags anyway? It can’t possibly be their jewelry, because they’re wearing it all. But they still want you to protect it with your life while they all wander away to chat with their chachi’s sister’s grand-niece.

Day 4. The actual wedding ceremony: The priest guides the couple’s parents through the ritual of invoking the gods to witness and allow the wedding to proceed.

Side note - there are a lot of Hindu gods and they all apparently have to be invited.

It’s been 45 minutes. The groom is about to bolt.

I’m having a blast, ngl. But I’m going to need a week to recover.
