I had someone offer me $30 to knit them a queen size blanket.

I just stared at them.

$30 wouldn't cover the cost for the yarn, much less the time it would take.

This is why my usual immediate answer when someone asks me to make something for them, is no.

Just because something is a hobby for most people, doesn't mean people shouldn't be fairly compensated for their work if they decide to sell a piece.

Quilters especially suffer the indignity of low-ball offers for their incredible talent and work.

It always weirds me out when people try to lowball handmade items. You want cheap? Go to a store and buy a mass-produced item. You get what you pay for though. Handmade is typically made a heck of a lot better... but you have to pay for the work that goes into it.
