Mine was in a clerical class where we learned to type, file, and use an adding machine that I took as a Sophomore.

I got a certificate for being the best in the class in typing at 92 WPM, no errors. (I once froze some word processing software by typing faster than 120 WPM.)

8th grade, 5th period. Typing class.

We all used those old but functional typewriters, learned QWERTY, and had to pass by typing 35 words per minute WPM w/ 0 errors

We could check out typewriters to practice at home!

At one point I was able to type 70 WPM w/no errors.

You?

In the early 70's we were the first to use IBM selectric models and on one 3 minute timed writing I made 29 errors (and my hands were NOT on the wrong keys)!😵 But I did learn to competently type and I'm so glad now that I took typing.
