This is great, Myron! I hated being made to take this class. But just a couple short years later as computers became a must for college I was ever so thankful for this skill. 80 WPM!
And I met a favorite punk rock girlfriend in this class who took me to a Clash concert!!
Myron Clifton @PresidentKamalasHand
8th grade, 5th period. Typing class.

We all used those old but functional typewriters, learned QWERTY, and had to pass by typing 35 words per minute WPM w/ 0 errors

We could check out typewriters to practice at home!

At one point I was able to type 70 WPM w/no errors.

You?

Damn, that's pretty fast! But definitely the best part is the concert with a cutie. 😁

(I'd have loved to see the Clash!)

OCD is kind of a super power when it’s not trying to throw you into a literal death spiral.
She was a little tiny thing but the coolest punk rocker ever. She wrote their Zine and, because of that, we met them. I saw them a handful of times. Only show I didn’t like when they opened for The Who.

Yes!
I loved the enthusiasm of the zine writer. So earnest and excited about their topic of choice. 😁

Just to get to hang out with creatives is nourishing! The ability to create in this cold divisive environment is special. I remember a T-shirt popular with the Twin City music scene in the 80's...If I can't Dance, I can't be in this Revolution! Indeed creatives are often Revolutionary.

Haha - I remember seeing a couple of those at First Avenue back in the day. I’m not so sure they weren’t from The Longhorn days or Funkytown from Lipps!

I actually knew Cynthia Johnson, vocalist for Funky Town... At the time I sang with the Sounds of Blackness.

How cool! She was a member of Sounds of Blackness as well, correct??
Was just talking with Michael Hepburn from Pleasure this morning and he shared a recent post about how bass players are still studying the bass lines from Glide some 45 years later. How awesome is that!!!
