I really feel like car companies are trying to trick us into thinking plug-in hybrids are new. I’ve heard two commercials that act like plug-in hybrids are cutting edge tech. But…people drove Priuses in small town KS in 2005. What am I missing?

Plugins (Plugin Hybrid EVs, PHEVs) are different. Prius Primes are the PHEV Priuses and they came out in 2012.

BUT you're right, I think what's going on is full EVs aren't practical til we have charging stations as available as gas stations. I think they're rebranding the marketing to push PHEVs.

I drive one of Honda's PHEVs, and I *love* it. But I wouldn't like to have just the battery, not with the limited chargers out there. If you never have to drive more than an EVs battery can take you between charges, EVs are great. But I'm sticking with PHEVs til I see more chargers.
