South Dakota wants to mess this up. They passed a law saying they will say who won but not the vote totals until after the Electoral College meets so we can't know the pop vote totals. As long as only a few rural states do this, we're OK, but if TX or FL don't disclose, the compact could collapse.

The National Popular Vote Interstate Compact is a proposed method for U.S. presidential elections in which several states award Electoral College votes to winners of the national popular vote, a way to get around the Electoral College if it is too hard to abolish it through constitutional amendment.
