John Peel was a popular & influential DJ with Radio One in England. He and Bolan were good friends until "Bang A Gong" came out. Being a DJ, Peel got an advance copy to play. He played it, didn't like it, and said so on air. Bolan only spoke once to Peel after that before he died in 1977.
