Minor quibble: I've seen many people define "woke" as "empathy." IMO, that's not quite right – being woke is an awareness of systemic racism, sexism, & all forms of bigotry. That leads to empathy; but just calling it generic empathy without acknowledging the specific causes is a bit of a whitewash.

Woke involves empathy, but demands actions.

Passive outrage is a placebo, to be woke is to need to fix what is broken from the systemic base level & up.

To be woke, we must see what is wrong, must feel that it is wrong, and must need to make it right.

Adaptive advocacy.

And further we MUST listen to any group we hope to support, to learn THEIR perspective on the wrongs done to them, not just echo our own perspective & call it being their voice.

Woke starts by learning from the targets of hate, far more than the sources of hate.
