I will never stop loving or missing my late husband, but also right now I’m happily single. I have no interest in pursuing a relationship, and I find it both fascinating and annoying how many people keep wondering out loud to me when I’ll “start dating again”. I don’t want or need any of that.

My father was a widower from the time of my mother’s death until his own 12 years later. My MIL has been on her own since my FIL passed which is nearly as long now. If you are happy on your own, then that should be enough.

Thank you! My own grandmother was also on her own from the time of my grandfather’s death until she passed over 30 years later. The social pressure to be coupled is real, and very odd to me.

I think it’s similar to people thinking that you somehow can’t be fulfilled as a woman unless you have babies. Some people don’t want children. Some people are infertile and telling them this is hurtful. Let people live their lives on their own terms and in their own way.
