Out of the many things I am grateful to my parents for, one stands out: teaching me the ability to effectively manage the word “no”.

We heard it a lot. And I mean a lot!

I always chuckle when I see others demonstrating they weren’t taught this skill.

i told my daughter when she was growing up that it's my job to teach her how to handle No for an answer. cuz no one will love her as much as me and the world is much more likely to say No to her. to NOT teach her would've been a failure of parenting

And as far as my parents were concerned NO was a complete sentence. That’s one lesson I followed with my kids, and it never did me wrong. 😁

Raises hand.... wasn't taught it for personal autonomy/self protections, etc. Its a wonderful skill to have. never too late to try to develop that skill

I hear you. My biggest challenge use to be when the wrong person offered intimacy, or what I thought was intimacy. I paid dearly for that 😢
