BREAKING: The Treasury, the Federal Reserve, and the FDIC have wisely chosen to ensure that ALL depositors at Silicon Valley Bank and Signature Bank are made whole.

Public confidence in the US banking system, the beating heart of the US economy, must NEVER be shaken.

This means it’s time to stop complaining about debt relief for everyone else. Help our young people who are burden out of there goards by student debt . If it’s important to help wealthy people then it’s important to help them all.

What is the name of the depression era law, rescinded during Clinton Admin, that separated retail banking from riskier investment banking? My understanding is that SVB had lobbied to loosen the risk limiting rules even further. Is that true?

I disagree. They should adhere to the current FDIC guidelines that accounts are insured up to $250k per account. Not a penny more.

More bailouts for the rich, "personal responsibility" for the poor. The system always protects the rich at the expense of the poor. Every. Single. Time.

The only "public confidence" that I have regarding the US banking system is that they will never pay a price for failure.

We had confidence they were insured up to $250k. You will shake confidence in government before you allow the already rich to lose one penny in their own recklessness. Vulgar and shameful.

It looks like the shareholders will pay the depositors, which is as it should be.
