I would expect a company as large and with the resources of Boeing to have an Internal Audit Department, and moreover to hire an external auditor like KPMG well before the FAA arrives to do its audit.

Although I have no direct knowledge, I’m willing to believe you. However Airbus, too, has been found wanting on occasion. Hopefully, Boeing’s current troubles will not lead Airbus to become self-satisfied, but rather both companies should intensify quality control in manufacturing.

Surprising and good to know.
Thank you.

I worked in a factory in Germany and as a culture they are super anal (in a good way) about production & safety checks, however they started importing cheaper steel from Chechnya and the quality of our frames went down.

I used to work for TWA, which had one of the best safety records in the skies. This is one big reason why almost no employee or ex-employee believes TW800 simply fell out of the sky.
