I have a question for the dual citizens here...what caused you to want to be a dual citizen?

I was a dual citizen by birth, but lost my 2nd citizenship in my 20s by failing to meet that country’s requirements for maintaining it. When they changed their rules, I jumped at the chance to get it back because it gives me options on where I can live and how I can travel.

In my case it wasn't really a choice. Canada considers me a Canadian because I was born in Canada with a Canadian mother, and the US considers me American because my father was American.

However, I greatly value having the ability to live and work, and voting rights, in two countries.
