When the CDC says you don’t need to isolate when you have covid if you don’t have a fever, or whatever, they are lying. You are infectious as long as you are RAT positive which is more like 10 days to two weeks.

My friend just told me a story of visiting his MIL in the hospital (Covid + pneumonia) who had a roommate who was sick with Covid and coughing and spewing without ever covering her mouth. I guess this is the new normal.
Of course he was wearing a mask, but he couldn't get out of there fast enough.

That hospital room had a cloud of covid circulating. Unless your friend was in an N95 and goggles, he/she should test over the next few days.

Yes, he did for the week after (and he works from home). But why they put in a full-blown Covid case with his MIL who was asymptomatic and on her last Remdesivir treatment makes no sense, except there are no rules now.

They ( hospital administrators) don’t want to spend the money to be vigilant. It is exasperating to watch because they know better.
