First #ImmortalLifeTalkingPoint

In almost everything we’ve read sex has played a role, since there was abuse and incest here you’d think that’d be it. However, when I read it, I just knew that Henrietta examining herself and finding a cervical mass would be the thing that was too much for some. Women knowing their own bodies is 🚫

I saw no reason for the book to be banned or restricted. The only thing that would make sense is age limits. Younger children (< 14) might have trouble understanding everything.

One Mom found reaching into one's own vagina to find a tumor pornographic...Her 15-year-old son got a different reading assignment...they didn't actually "ban it"...This is parental choice...her son missed out on a good story. #ImmortalLife Q1

Yes, there's challenged, banned (removed from library), removal from reading lists, requests for substitutions, etc. For simplicity's sake, most of the media uses the term "banned," but there's a difference between all of them. To widen the choices, I've included books from all the categories.

Of course not. I would guess bans are meant to make the medical establishment look less bad. They treated Henrietta and her family callously. Her family had a right to a detailed description of how her cells are used and they were ignored instead.
