1) Barack Obama is one of my favourite US Presidents.
Basic universal healthcare is something we enjoy in Australia & something I would like all Americans to experience.
Both our countries are developed & wealthy enough for all citizens to have the right to at least a basic level of healthcare.

2) Yes, it comes out of our income tax, but that's the point of taxes. Everyone contributes to a pool of money to fund basic infrastructure & services.
In Australia, we pay a specific 2% medicare levy to fund our hospitals etc. It's ring-fenced & cannot be raided for other Government purpose.

3) Is our medicare system perfect? Heck no. No basic universal healthcare system ever will be. But it works for vast majority of our population and a good majority of use cases.

In response to Steve Lee.
It's something practically all the developed countries that aren't called 'USA' enjoy. I will never understand why or what the Republicans have against it.
