I had to stop watching after Mr. Nance referred to both Jesus and Josephus as Rabbis without defining the difference between modern terms and antiquity. Rabbinic Judaism grows from the 2nd Destruction of the temple and the creation of the Jewish diaspora. In Aramaic it means "master".

Aramaic was the common tongue of the region, Hebrew was utilized in diplomacy and religious text. It would only be after the Romans won the Jewish-Roman Wars, sacked the temple, enslaved Jews, and took the property and enslaved to Rome to build the coliseum that the Jewish Diaspora had to adapt.

One of the ways to adapt was a decentralized religion of local religious leaders in rabbinic Judaism, instead of the previous centralized iteration around the temple. Communities and congregations became holy, a view of a greater peoplehood was reinforced as migration to new geographies occured.

A title was thus transformed for the religious leadership to be Rav, Reb, Ravi, Rebbe, and later Rabbi. This title has specifically been for those of leading religious community along with knowledge of religious texts, and more specifically esteemed scholars. General "Master" ➡️ "Esteemed Scholar".
