Look at 2008. 401Ks, everyone's "favorite" retirement accounts, PLUNGED in value when the stock markets collapsed under the weight of bank failures. People who were set to retire COULDN'T, and had to keep working, while waiting for their portfolios to recover. That's not retirement, that's roulette.

And I believe there was a president that thought having Social Security funds invested in the Stock Market was a good idea.
