I remember. I spent some of my childhood in an #IronLung . Horrible memory. Luckily for me, the Salk and Sabin #vaccines were just coming out. I am 74 now and still have remnants of the disease, but I’m alive, all thanks to science and medicine.

VACCINES WORK!

I grew up in a time when we had vaccinations for some things, but not for polio, measles, chickenpox and a few other things. I remember official quarantines, when officials would come and put a yellow notice on your door and forbid you to leave the house...and you accepted it. #IronLung

My Mom was an only child. My grandma lost 2 baby boys. One was born and lived a few hours. The other was a full term still birth. She had my Mom at 38. That was considered old in 1940. My Mom told me she remembered having to stay home in the summer because of a Polio epidemic.
