Form over Content
IMHO: Both are important; if the form is wanting, it becomes too easy to overlook the content. That is why Grammar and Syntax matter, as well as tasteful dress, and civilized address. However, if all that overwhelms intent and content, then we’ve missed the point of formalism.

In an earlier lifetime, I was co-head of a small summer music school in France. One morning I came down to breakfast at the home of the local mayor, about to go meet with local officials and the press. I wore a French suit. The mayor said “Lu, et approuvé” - meaning, “Read, and approved.”
