1. Alabama: Named after the Alabama, or Alibamu tribe, a Muskogean-speaking tribe.

You can add Arkansas to the list as well.
A page on their Secretary of State website titled “How Did Arkansas Get Its Name?” states: “The word ‘Arkansas’ came from the Quapaw Indians, by way of early French explorers.”

A Quora post claims it’s 28 states. Either way, it’s a huge number.
