Apparently they left Anne Heche (who I knew in high school) out of the In Memoriam reel at the Oscars, and it reminded me of this thing that I wrote on Twitter on the day she died. (I put it on Substack so you don't have to go to the bad place if you don't want to.)

I'm a big fan of Anne Heche. I believe that the Thornton Wilder play you wrote about is the one the P&G talent scout saw Anne in & that got her whole career started. I'm surprised you wrote that Anne caused a lot of pain. I know her life & I'm not really aware of her doing so.

Thank you for sharing. It seems every year they leave out many who have dedicated a good part of their lives to bringing us joy. Is it really that important to have an extra song or speech, over remembering those now gone? The class and purpose of these shows is gone IMO.
