I've never understood the slice of cheese on apple pie. Why waste a good piece of cheese on it? Apple pie is at the bottom of all the pies ever made IMHO and that includes all the apple pie I've eaten that was going to be the best I ever tasted.

I remember my dad always put cheese on apple pie. If I could have a piece of real apple pie again (gluten-free is not the same), I'd happily eat it with or without cheese!

I've never seen cheese melted on the top of apple pie. I have seen a slice of cheese on top of cold apple pie. I never thought you were supposed to eat them together. I always figured the cheese was to cut the sweetness after the pie was finished. That's just speculation on my part.

I don't like cooked apples but will eat apples for a snack any time.

I've never even seen a piece of cheese on a slice of pie. Doesn't seem right.

I live in Illinois close to the Wisconsin border. They serve apple pie with cheddar in their restaurants. It doesn't seem like it would be very good, but it surprisingly is!
