However this year's Eid al-Fitr comes with a feeling of despair for Muslims witnessing the plight of those in Gaza.

The photo is of a candlelight vigil held in Bankstown, which I attended in December last year to commemorate all of the innocent lives lost.

Since the time that photo was taken the loss of lives has staggeringly increased - along with it the sense of sadness we all feel.

I'll continue to call for a ceasefire, for unfettered aid to flow to those currently suffering in a man-made famine, and for justice for all those impacted grievously by the failure of others to observe international humanitarian law.
