"Daggers."

There are 64 species of Herons. All have dagger-like beak that I imagine causes great #pain to prey and humans alike. Here are Snowy Egret, Great Blue Heron, Tri-Colored Heron, Little Blue Heron, Great White Egret and the Yellow Crown Night Heron, respectively.

It is hard for me to watch the herons catch (and eat) their prey- usually squirrels when I am watching.
Ok. Honestly I don’t watch the eating part- ewwwww
Yes, I know it is part of nature

I've only seen them tackle something that large on YouTube. I tend to see they with smaller fish, maybe 5 inches. I know they are fully capable though. Animals are made with incredible physical abilities it seems, compared to us.

Love them! We have a lot of Great Blue Herons here - we've always called them Terradactyl's (sp?) They soar down the canals and their wing span is huge.
