Conversation with my sister who is a psychologist today:
ME: I have a lot to tell you...
SIS: Can you make it quick, I'm busy.
ME: Okay, I gave notice at work, the environment became toxic, depressive and the lead doctor is a malignant narcissist.

SIS: You know, there are difficult people no matter where you work.
(Been working since I was 14)
ME: He also made comments about my ethnicity.
SIS: I have things to tell you too.
(Being completely dismissive of everything I'm saying. I let her do her venting and then continue with my news)

ME: Did you see the pic of the dog I sent you? Well she's mine now. She's a Belgian Malinois.
SIS: A what? She looks like a German Shepherd mutt.
ME: You never heard of a Malinois?
SIS: No.

So now let's analyze this. My psychologist sister thinks that malignant narcissism is something to put up with. My psychologist sister thinks that toxicity and depressive conditions in a work environment are just par for the course and should be tolerated.

My psychologist sister who knows how much dogs mean to me, makes reductionist comments about my new dog.
NO ONE should put up with a toxic environment or malignant personalities. Never mind the insensitive comment about the dog.
And she's a psychologist.... probably not a very good one.

And that is the last time I attempt to have a meaningful conversation with her. She's been like this her whole life.....
