As of this July it will be illegal to sleep on the street in Kentucky, and store owners will be able to “use force to protect their space.” This is all part of “the Safer Kentucky Act.” Our governor vetoed it, but the veto was overridden by the republican supermajority.

None of the stupid shit in this bill will make any Kentuckians safer. What it will do is cost lots of money, overcrowd jails, and result in more death or physical violence to black, brown, and other vulnerable Kentuckians.

The passage of this makes me feel angry and defeated. I will collect and center myself and fight on.

In response to Khrissy Choate.
I heard about this when the Governor vetoed it, and it was reported they'd override the veto. Having been homeless for 8 months, I'm appalled at the way this country can kick people when they're down. Yes, some have mental illness and some are substance abusers. I found most were kind and hurting.
