Big dog is already asleep. Tough to stay awake when you have kept the family up during a thunderstorm.
We are all exhausted.

I feel this. I used to have a dog that was so afraid of thunderstorms. She paced, whined and panted the entire time. It helped to keep her under the covers snuggled against me at night, tightly wrapped in a Thundershirt, but she was still scared. Deafness eliminated the fear, late in her life.

Yeah, they all have their unique reaction to the fear. Mine is particularly weird, rolling, pawing, jumping off the bed, on the bed. All night. And I gave him meds.
But they fight it. Tiring.
But I love him. 💜

My Colby does that. I don't think the meds work that well that I got from the vet. I have to put him in the basement with very loud fans going so he can hide in a kennel that I've turned into a cave. I don't lock him in but will close the basement door until the storm has long passed.

That’s a good plan. I used to do a similar thing but Big Dog won’t leave my side.
He’s changed his MO!
