Lateral quadrpod on my right and lateral trips on my left. My elementary school teachers tried to “fix” how I held my pencil, for some reason.

They did that to my little brother. They also trained him to write right-handed. Apparently, being left-handed wasn't allowed in the early '70s. 🤷‍♀️

Brother had his left hand tied behind his back by his teachers (early 50's.) He didn't tell mom until they tried to do the same to one of our sisters.
Mom went ballistic.
Teachers stopped, but his first 5 years in school were hell.

He's now truly ambidextrous and a demon on any stringed instrument.

That's barbaric. Did this happen at a public school? My brother was never punished, just gently reminded and encouraged.

He's also a musician. Mainly oboe and saxophone, but he can't play others.

My mother was a horrible person. Except: She went to bat for me against the nuns at my parochial school in the '60s. I'm still left-handed and I'm in the last third of my life.

My mother was left-handed, and a teacher. She bought into the argument that everything's designed for right-handed people. And since it was kindergarten and he hadn't really learned to write yet, they let it go. They were too busy battling the over the fact that he refused to get a haircut. 🙂💙
