After five stellar seasons with the Reds, in which he had 108 wins and 12 shutouts, the New York Rangers came calling.

They traded four players to the Reds to get Giacomin in 1965.

When Giacomin played in New York with the Red Wings on Nov. 2, 1975, the New York fans gave him a standing ovation, and booed their own players when they scored on Giacomin.
