My 40s were definitely better than my 30s because I didn't receive my ASD DX until age 39; so I had ten years to grow in the DX in my 40s whereas in my 30s I was still stumbling around in the dark, as was my ex-wife.

My ex was almost certainly ASD as well and also undiagnosed. It put a strain on our marriage but at bottom we were just incompatible and had irreconcilable differences; I was a confident atheist and she was deeply religious but thought she could convert me I guess. We were doomed.

In my defense, she was experiencing a profound crisis of faith when we became a couple and I gambled she was smart enough to ditch religion altogether. I lost that bet, hard, and it wasn't pretty.
