Oh joy, oh bliss, there are teeny-tiny wee ants on my kitchen counter.

Grateful to have a kitchen to call mine, don’t get me wrong - but dammit, ants bother me.

Off to search on how to deal with ant infestations without poisoning my dog.

There is a gel that we got at the hardware store. you put a little bit on a piece of cardboard or paper, set it near where you see the ants. They are attracted to it, take it back to the nest and kill the entire colony. Keep it out of reach of the dog, who most likely wouldn't be interested anyways.

Find where they're getting in and sprinkle with food grade diatomaceous earth. It can't hurt people or pets but will get rid of the ants.

Ants leave a trail of pheromones, you can wash your counter top with a vinegar solution to remove them.
